Is it bad to eat and watch TV at the same time?
Am I able to watch TV while I eat?
Combining two enjoyable activities, like
eating and watching TV, is common. Although it is incredibly practical, is this
useful?
It turns out that even dietitians and other
experts who are somehow associated with nutrition do not share a common
viewpoint on the subject, occasionally presenting opposing opinions.
Why eating in front of the TV is not a good idea
For the following reasons:
The body's ability to absorb nutrients from
food is compromised when the human brain is preoccupied with
"foreign" thoughts in addition to eating, which results in inadequate
production of saliva and gastric juice. Additionally, poorly digested food
particles that reach the intestines and pass through them will irritate and
"scratch" their walls, producing unpleasant symptoms like abdominal pain.
Without paying attention to their meal, a
person faces the risk of overeating and missing the point of satiety.
Overeating is the root of heaviness in the stomach, gastrointestinal diseases,
excess weight, and other issues. eating while watching TV
Some people eat while watching TV,
forgetting about it as the meal cools and loses its flavor and nutritional
value.
People who don't have a TV in the kitchen will occasionally eat in another room, on their knees, or in some other unnatural or uncomfortable eating position.
However, another viewpoint exists.
It even helps digestion when someone eats
slowly, thoroughly, and for a long period while near a television. To resume
viewing the film as quickly as possible after the commercial break, it is far
more detrimental to eat on the go or stuff food into your mouth. Your health
will not be benefited by waiting to eat while watching your favorite
show, followed by a few more TV episodes, before sitting down at the table and
eating normally.
